Meet Georgia
Owner of Mane Society

I was seventeen when I started hairdressing in 2011 and always dreamt of opening my very own salon. Eight years later with a bit of persistence and hard work, here we are! After working in two salons across 2017, I began to notice certain qualities that weren’t quite right, nor adhered to my personal philosophy so I made the tough decision to go solo and branch out on my own. At the time, I wasn’t quite ready to dive right in and open a salon, so I explored the idea of just renting a chair which had only just started to rise in popularity and gave it a red hot go!
Being somewhat excited to work part time and ease into it after working full time for quite a long period, I was pleasantly and happily surprised to have the need to open my books up to full time within my first 3 months. Building relationships was always important to me so, I was very lucky to have a very loyal client base prior to this (and some girls who were very good at getting their stalk on and finding where I had disappeared off to) to allow me to do so. Things took off quickly and within the first year I knew that my next step was opening my own salon. Over the next year I continued to get busier and busier, quite often needing to close my books as the demand was far too high for one stylist, something I dislike having to do but am very grateful to ever be in that position!
Looking for a space to create and build my salon was like finding the right pair of heels, extremely hard to find the right fit, but once you do find the right pair, it's perfect! But then, with T minus four weeks before Theo and I were heading off to Europe for a beautiful six week holiday, I found my perfect space!
Those two months are honestly a blur and I really can’t comprehend how we did it. Getting council approval and the keys just four days before flying out and with a very outdated office space that needed a HUGE revamp, It meant for a very small time frame to have all decisions finalised for the tradies, as well as being in contact with them from the other side of the world!Let’s just say that making business decisions whilst sailing around the beautiful sights of Santorini was both equally stressful and serendipitous. Six beautiful and well spent weeks later we came home and I had two days to set everything up before starting clients the following day and Mane Society was officially open!
I opened Mane Society with the goal of it being everything I always wanted throughout my career that I never got the chance to experience. Now, three years in, we’ve built from the ground up an amazing team in a beautiful environment. Mane Society prides itself on respectful engagement, with ample opportunity to grow and excel through means of mentorship within the salon as well as exterior education courses, to ultimately become the best hairdresser you can possibly be!
As a community, we follow traits of honesty, loyalty and communication, all which is shown through the dedication of our staff. I want Mane Society to feel like more of a second home rather than a work space, somewhere to celebrate the achievements of my team and to be able to reward them for their hard work. For so long our industry has been at a standstill with ever present toxic traits of unfair and awful treatment whilst being overworked and underpaid. I'm so proud to have created this space that does exactly the opposite of that and is making way for future hairdressers to come.
As for now, I am on to my life’s next biggest and most exciting adventure as my now husband Theo and I prepare to welcome a beautiful baby in March 2023. Being pregnant can be a stressful time but, with the beautiful work family nurtured at Mane Society, I have no fear of what the future is to hold!
I’m sure I'll see you all in the salon soon!
Much love, Georgia xx
